We firmly believe that the safety and wellbeing of our staff and clients is of the highest priority. As such, Matrix Security has made a conscious decision to lead the security industry with regards to suitably qualified, professional Security Officers.
Trust in us
We have a rigorous pre-employment, vetting and selection process and comprehensive training. Probationary Security Officers undergo a four-week induction and basic training programme, after which Matrix Security encourages them to enrol in NZQA-approved ITO training programmes in order to attain their Levels 2 and 3 Certificates in Security. Matrix Security pays for the training and arranges interactive training days with frontline Police.
Matrix Security employs a Human Resources Manager and a fulltime Training and Safety Officer.
Training
All new employees, irrespective of experience, have a structured Orientation programme. This differs depending on their job and business function. However, for all Security Officers their Induction Programme is spread over two full days in an interactive classroom environment and covers all aspects of operational and procedural security. This includes but is not limited to:
• Health and Safety
• Security Law
• RT Procedures and Protocol
• Customer Service
• Communication
They are then assigned to a Senior Security Officer or Supervisor for their first week's training and ''buddied'' with this Senior Security Officer for their first three months. All new Security Officers have regular checks and interaction with the OMX and Operations Manager to ensure they are completing their training and understand their role fully.
New Zealand Qualifications Authority - Security Levels 2 and 3
On successful completion of their three-month probationary period, all eligible Security Officers who do not already hold either of these qualifications are required to complete the appropriate course. Upon attainment of either level, the Security Officer's pay increases to reflect their qualification level.
Leading the way
Matrix Security was one of the first companies in the country to pass the New Zealand Security Association (NZSA) audit for patrol services and alarm monitoring response, and the second to pass an audit for static security operations.
The NZSA introduced the intensive auditing structure to ensure that security providers, like Matrix Security, comply with their Codes of Practice.
The audits are an important way of validating that security companies actually have the operational capabilities that they say they do.
